Questions

Questions we hear most

Do I have to be home during the work?

Someone over 18 should be there at the start and the end of the day. In between you can come and go.

How long does a room take?

A water heater or a single circuit is usually a day. A kitchen or a mini-split plan can take a few days. Your written plan gives the days for your house.

Do I need a permit?

Yes, for almost all of this work. We pull it and schedule the inspection.

My house was built before 1978. Does that change anything?

Yes. Paint in houses built before 1978 may contain lead, and cutting into walls can disturb it. Federal rules ask a firm to follow lead-safe work practices for that. Tell us the year of your house at the walk-through; where it applies, the written plan says how we'll handle it.

Do you handle rebates?

We leave rebate amounts to you, because programs and rules change. We give you an itemized invoice with model numbers so you can apply to whatever is open.

Will you shut off my gas?

We cap the line at the appliance and tag it. If the whole house goes electric and you want the meter closed, that is the gas company's step, and we help you ask for it.

Does altitude matter?

Albuquerque is about 5,300 feet up. Gas appliances run differently at altitude, and heat pumps are rated for it. We pick models listed for our elevation.

What if the power goes out?

Induction, heat pumps and chargers stop with the power, like anything else on the grid. A battery circuit is a separate decision we can wire for.

Do you take a deposit?

Yes, when you sign, within New Mexico rules, and the rest as each room is finished. The amounts are in the contract.

Can I choose the order?

Yes. We suggest one based on the panel and what's about to fail, and you decide.

Can I get the plan in Spanish?

Yes. The site, the written plan and the walk-through are available in Spanish and English. Marcelina and Amadeo speak both.

Do you install solar panels?

No. We do the electrical side: conduit, panel space and a battery subpanel, ready for the installer you choose.

Something we didn't answer?

Call or text. A person answers.
